After a slower start to July for Kirby Smart’s coaching staff, recruiting has picked up with three defensive back commitments over the past week. This recent hot streak for Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class began on July 7, when four-star cornerback Shamari Earls chose the Bulldogs. Then, on Sunday, four-star safety Rashad Johnson committed to Georgia over Penn State, Texas A&M, and Louisville.

Johnson joined Jaylan Morgan, who committed just one day after Earls, as the only two safeties in Georgia’s class. The 6-foot-2 safety from Bushnell, Florida is the 43rd-ranked player in the state according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Charlie Condon selected No. 3 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft by Colorado Rockies

Charlie Condon was the best player in college baseball last season, hitting 37 home runs with a 1.565 OPS. However, at the 2024 MLB Draft, Condon fell to third overall before he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies. Condon was taken behind Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana and Wake Forest right-handed pitcher Chase Burns.

Condon, the 6-foot-6 versatile outfielder became the highest-drafted player in Georgia baseball history after beginning his career in Athens as a walk-on. Once he makes it to the major leagues, Condon should enjoy hitting in the thin air at Coors Field in Denver.

More: SEC Media Days begins in Dallas

With Nick Saban’s retirement, Kirby Smart is now the king of the SEC, and on Tuesday at SEC Media Days in Dallas, Smart will hold court at 10:05 a.m. ET. Smart will be joined at the press conference about 50 minutes later by Carson Beck, Malaki Starks, and Mykel Williams.

While the Bulldogs are the conference favorites and contending for their third national title in four years this season, there will be plenty of anticipation to hear how Smart responds to another flurry of driving-related arrests on his roster.
