Georgia football: 10 Bulldogs who defined Running Back U
By Josh Yourish
Georgia rushing yards: 2,885 Georgia rushing touchdowns: 20
NFL rushing yards: 2,502 NFL rushing touchdowns: 22
The 2017 Georgia Bulldogs backfield was legendary. Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, and a freshman D'Andre Swift. Swift, as the third running back, ran for 618 yards on 81 carries, an average of 7.6 yards per rush. He also caught 17 passes for 153 yards. To have that level of production as a third-string freshman is absurd.
The logjam in the backfield is the only reason Swift isn't higher than seventh in program history in rushing yards. Swift's best season came in 2019 as a junior when he ran for 1,218 yards and seven touchdowns and caught 24 passes for 216 yards and another score.
After that, he was off to the NFL where he was drafted in the second round by the Detroit Lions. He was injury-prone in Detroit, but has found a home in Philadelphia.
