Georgia football projected depth chart for the 2024 season

The Georgia Bulldogs come into the 2024 season as the SEC favorites and with a loaded roster and returning quarterback in Carson Beck, maybe the best roster in the country.

The Georgia Bulldogs were an SEC title game loss to Alabama from going back to the College Football Playoff last season and maybe that close to a Kirby Smart three-peat. Now, with Carson Beck back at quarterback for his final season in Athens, the Bulldogs are the favorites to win the National Championship in the first year of the 12-team CFP.

The only problem is that even with Nick Saban finally retiring, the SEC slate got even harder this offseason. The arrival of Oklahoma and Texas could complicate things for the Bulldogs, but with this loaded roster that includes plenty of returning starters on both sides of the ball and a few key transfer additions, Smart’s team looks like the best in the country.

OFFENSE:

  2. Gunner Stockton, 14, R-So.
  3. Jaden Rashada, 10, R-Fr.
  4. Ryan Puglisi, 12, Fr.

  1. Oscar Delp, 4, Jr.
  2. Ben Yurosek, 84, Gr.

RT:

  2. Monroe Freeling, 57, So.
  3. Bo Hughley, 59, R-Fr.

Despite sending Brock Bowers and Amarius Mims off to the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Georgia has two returning starters at tackles in Earnest Greene III and Xavier Truss, plus Oscar Delp was a dynamic playmaker in Bowers absence last season after he suffered an injury.

Trevor Etienne will be the best running back on the roster, and nabbing him from Florida’s roster is the icing on the cake. Then, at wide receiver, where Georgia lacks a true star No. 1 receiver after Ladd McConkey’s departure, the Bulldogs added London Humphreys and Colbie Young from the transfer portal and both could fight for starting spots at the outside receiver positions.

With Carson Beck looking like the potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Georgia has more than enough talent on its offense to dominate the SEC.

  2. CJ Allen, 3, So.
  3. Raylen Wilson, 5, So.
  4. Justin Williams, 19, Fr.

LCB:

  1. Daylen Everette, 6, Jr.
  2. Ellis Robinson IV, 1, Fr.

STAR:

  1. Joenel Aguero, 8, So.
  2. Kyron Jones, 31, R-Fr.

Georgia’s defense has been routinely dominant since Kirby Smart took over in 2016 and almost immediately took his Bulldogs to the National Championship game against Alabama. This unit shouldn’t be much different, but it is a particularly young group, especially in the secondary.

Up front, Mykel Williams could be the most unstoppable force in the SEC, only James Pearce Jr. at Tennessee is in that conversation with him, but on the back end, Smart is only an injury or two away from throwing true freshman cornerback Ellis Robinson IV onto the field and at linebacker true sophomore CJ Allen will be forced into a lot of responsibility after Jamon Dumas-Johnson transferred to Kentucky this offseason.
