Georgia without 3 key players and maybe more vs. Alabama: Full injury report

Georgia will be without three offensive pieces in Week 5 against Alabama and could be missing more on the defensive side of the ball.

After Georgia’s 13-point performance in a one-point win over Kentucky before the bye week, the Bulldogs don’t appear to be a team that can withstand many injuries on the offensive side of the ball, but for Week 5, they’ll be without three key pieces of the offense.

Roderick Robinson II has been out all year after suffering a turf toe injury in fall camp that required surgery. On Wednesday’s SEC Availability Report, the veteran running back was again listed as out for Georgia’s top-five showdown in Tuscaloosa. However, there were two new arrivals for the No. 2 Bulldogs.

Veteran right guard Tate Ratledge was forced to leave Georgia’s Week 3 SEC opener at Kentucky when he suffered knee and ankle injuries. During the bye week, he received tight-rope surgery to repair his ankle and he likely won’t be healthy enough to see the field until November. He was expected to be out against No. 4 Alabama and that was confirmed by the injury report.

The biggest surprise was that sophomore wide receiver and Vanderbilt transfer London Humphreys was also listed as out for Week 5. Humphreys made two catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against Clemson but has not been much of a factor since. Now, he will miss time after it was reported that he contracted mononucleosis. That makes three key pieces of Georgia’s offense that will be on the sidelines.

Defensively, there are a lot more question marks and much less certainty. Warren Brinson is expected to get back on the field for the first time since Week 1, but there is more doubt around Mykel Williams status as he attempts to return from an ankle sprain that forced him to leave the field in Week 1 and has kept him out since. Williams will be one of Georgia’s most important defensive chess pieces if he is healthy enough to play.
