As he always does, Kirby Smart has prioritized the offensive linemen in the 2025 recruiting class. Currently, Smart’s third-ranked 2025 class three four-star interior offensive lineman, Cortez Harris, Mason Short, and Dontrell Glover, along with Jahzare Jackson, a 6-foot-11 basketball player who is transitioning to offensive tackle.

However, Smart doesn’t appear content with just one offensive tackle among his 22-player class, so he’s going after an Oregon commit, Ziyare Addison. Addison, a four-star from Riverview, Florida committed to Oregon back on June 10, choosing the Ducks over Penn State, Florida, and UCLA.

Prior to his commitment, Addison took an unofficial visit to Athens, but he still didn’t have an offer from the Bulldogs. Well, now he does, announcing it on X on Thursday morning.

By 247Sports Composite rankings, Addison is the 200th-ranked player nationally and a top 25 offensive tackle. Former Georgia assistant, Dan Lanning’s 2025 class, which is headlined by two elite wide receivers Dakorien Moore and Dallas Wilson, only features 14 players and four of them are offensive linemen. That logjam and Smart’s need for a proven tackle could drive Addison to flip his verbal commitment before signing day.

Despite losing first-round pick Amarius Mims, Georgia is entering this year with two known commodities at offensive tackle, Earnest Greene III who played 846 snaps at left tackle last season, and Xavier Truss, who played 515 snaps at right tackle and 738 snaps on the offensive line in 2024.

Though Greene is a redshirt sophomore, this could be the final collegiate season for both Greene and Truss, the senior right tackle. Behind that duo, Georgia has plenty of talent, 2023 four-stars Monroe Freeling and Bo Hughley, and 2024 four-stars Daniel Calhoun, Michael Uini, and Marques Easley, but very little experience.

If Addison does flip his commitment, he could have a tough path to playing time, especially at tackle, but there will be opportunities opening up and Smart’s coaching staff has proven itself capable of developing young offensive linemen early in their careers.
