“Lock in man, just focus on this” Carson Beck gives a message to Georgia fans eyeing Alabama/Vanderbilt upset

Vanderbilt has No. 1 Alabama on the ropes and Georgia fans were certainly aware of it at Sanford Stadium on Saturday as the Bulldogs rolled to a win over Auburn.

In Week 6, No. 5 Georgia bounced back from its Week 5 loss to Alabama with a 31-13 win over Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry. After beating the Bulldogs, Alabama jumped to No. 1 in the country before heading to Nashville for a Week 6 meeting with Vanderbilt.

Throughout Georgia’s convincing win over Auburn, the attention of SEC fans gradually turned to that game as Vanderbilt has the Crimson Tide on upset alert. Just moments after leading his team to a win with 240 yards passing and two touchdowns, ESPN’s Molly McGrath informed Beck that the Commodores have the lead over the nation’s No. 1 team and asked for his opinion.

Beck already seemed to know about the developing situation in Nashville because the highlights were being shown throughout Sanford Stadium in Athens all Saturday afternoon. Beck heard the cheers from Georgia and Auburn fans alike, but he had a message for his fanbase on homecoming.

“We’re focused on this game,” said Beck, “they kept putting it up on the TV and all our fans were cheering. We’re like ‘lock in man, just focus on this.’ We’re sitting here playing this game, trying to win, but you know it is what it is.”

Beck is smart not to turn his attentions anywhere else, but he and the rest of his teammate will almost certainly be locked into the final minutes in Nashville with a chance to climb back up in the AP Poll and improve their chances of reaching the SEC Championship game.
