SEC’s Chris Doering slams Clemson, gives Georgia Bulldogs a leg up in matchup
By Sam Fariss
As the SEC media days unfolded, analysts and media members discussed the upcoming season from kickoff to the College Football Playoffs.
As every second of collegiate football was picked apart and dissected, the marquee weekend of August 31 was a hot topic.
On the last day of August, the Georgia Bulldogs will clash with the Clemson Tigers at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
At media days, Peter Burns and Chris Doering kicked off day two with a segment called ‘Start, Bench, or Cut.’
Doering almost immediately jumped at the opportunity to cut the Bulldogs’ game against the Tigers. Burns said he was watching the matchup but only on his phone instead of the big screen.
As the show continued, Doering made an additional comment about the game:
“I think Georgia beats the hell out of Clemson in that game," Doering said. "I don't think they have the offense to be able to keep up with Georgia.”
While the rest of the on-air talent showed Doering down from making too rash of a prediction, his thoughts on Dabo Swinney’s squad were out in the open.
Swinney has adamantly refused to utilize NIL deals that are dominating the nation. Meanwhile, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs are attacking the financial benefits with their full force.
“But Clemson beating Georgia to start the season would be an unbelievable, just complete lever pull for the rest of the college football season," Burns said.
Doering interrupted saying, “Not going to happen. Not going to happen.”
Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET on August 31. Fans will be able to tune in on ABC.
