Stetson Bennett set to return to offseason workouts for the Rams

The reason for Stetson Bennett’s 2023 absence from the Los Angeles Rams has still not been disclosed, but the former Georgia two-time national champion is set to finally rejoin his NFL team, per multiple reports. Rams general managed Les Snead said on Monday that the plan is to “onboard” Bennett for the team’s upcoming offseason program, which will begin next month.
The 26-year-old quarterback was selected No. 128 overall in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, but just after the start of his first season in the league, was placed on the non-football injury/illness list and did not play a regular-season snap for the Rams last year. It is not known why Bennett, who was the presumed backup to fellow former Georgia Bulldog Matthew Stafford, missed the year after going 36/62 passing in the preseason for 347 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.
Stafford played 15 games last season, but when he was unavailable either due to injury or as a preventative measure in the final week of the season, Brett Rypien and Carson Wentz took snaps at quarterback in head coach Sean McVay's offense. Wentz became a free agent this offseason and the former No. 2 overall pick is still unsigned.
This offseason, LA went in another direction, signing Jimmy Garoppolo, who was released by the Raiders after a PED suspension, to backup Stafford. Garoppolo will miss the first two games of the season due to that suspension, opening the door to see Bennett take his first NFL snaps.
