Last week in Atlanta, Georgia cemented its spot at No. 1 in the AP poll and got to 1-0 with a 34-3 win over Clemson. Now, the Bulldogs get a bit of a reprieve from their brutal schedule with a non-conference matchup against Tennessee Tech at Sanford Stadium.

Kickoff for Georgia’s Week 2 matchup and home opener will be at 2:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and SEC Network+.

With last week’s victory, Georgia extended its streak of regular season wins to 40 straight. The program’s most recent regular season loss was November 7, 2020, a 44-28 loss to Florida a year before Georgia’s first of back-to-back national titles.

Kirby Smart’s win streak isn’t likely to come to an end this week with the Golden Eagles in Athens. Let’s check out the lopsided odds for this non-conference contest.

Tennessee Tech vs. Georgia prediction

Since the start of the 2021 season, Georgia is 4-1 against the spread in non-conference regular season games though as a home favorite, Kirby’s Dawgs are just 2-4. With those conflicting trends at play, it could be tough to lay the 54.5 points with confidence.

Once a year, Georgia faces an FCS opponent, and in that same stretch since 2021, the Bulldogs have a 56-7 win over Charleston Southern, a 33-0 win over Samford, and a 48-7 win over UT Martin in Week 1 of last season. It’s not a question of if Georgia will score a blowout victory, just a matter of how bad it’ll be.

Last season, Tennessee Tech 4-7 including a 56-10 loss early in the year against a New Mexico team that fired its head coach. The Golden Eagles are coming off a 32-25 loss to Middle Tennessee.

Georgia’s offense struggled in the first half against Clemson, but after halftime, Carson Beck & Co. proved that they’re elite. Georgia should put up plenty of points, even with backups in the game, freshman running back Nate Frazier will be a nightmare to tackle for an FCS opponent, and the Dawgs will win big. I’ll go with 62-7.
