7. Arizona State Sun Devils
Now it’s time to talk about the last two teams who received a first round bye, and coming in at No. 7 is the 4-seed Arizona State Sun Devils.
Arizona State had an amazing season this year as they were predicted to finish at the bottom of the Big 12. But they shocked everyone en route to their Big 12 Championship winning season. QB Sam Leavitt also looks like a future superstar, but this moment might be a little too big for him and the rest of his team.
The Sun Devils have to face Texas, which will be the best team they’ve faced by far this year. And unfortunately for Arizona State, they are two touchdown underdogs.
But even if Arizona State ends up losing, there is no reason to hang their heads. Making it this far in the College Football Playoff when nobody expected them to win more than a couple games is reason enough to be very satisfied with their season.
