Predicting Georgia football's College Football Playoff run
National Championship Game
Lastly we have the National Championship game. There are a lot of teams Georgia could see here, but it likely would come down to another rematch between two Big Ten teams in the other semifinal. 1-seed Oregon and 5-Ohio State would likely meet in the semis in our 12-team field, which would be the third potential meeting between these teams just like Georgia and Texas.
As you all know, Oregon won the first meeting and in this scenario would win the rematch in the Big Ten Championship game as well, but I think the Buckeyes come out on top in this third meeting.
The last time Georgia and Ohio State faced was two years ago during the Bulldogs second national championship under Kirby Smart. That was one of the greatest games in Georgia football history, and this one would likely fall in that category as well.
It would be a complete tossup between these two teams as they are both extremely talented and hungry to win a national championship. Ohio State will want to be the team that wins it all after their rival Michigan won last year, but Georgia would be looking to make it three titles in four years.
The key in this game for me would be Georgia's offense versus Ohio State's defense. I am very confident UGA's defense would play well enough to not allow the Buckeyes to score well over 30 points, so would Georgia's offense be able to find success against Ohio State's defense?
In the final game of the season, Beck and the offense will be more than ready and they will be able to move the ball at will against an Ohio State defense that doesn't look as good as advertised.
So give me Georgia to win the first ever edition of the 12-team College Football Playoffs. It by no means will be easy, but as of today Georgia looks like one of the two best teams in the country. So while this isn't a bold prediction by any means, it is one of the more likely outcomes and one we obviously would be more than thrilled to see.
Prediction: Georgia wins 27-17
