Predicting Georgia football's College Football Playoff run, final scores
The first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings are in, and Georgia football finds themselves around where they should be as the No. 3 team in the country.
However, since the top four seeds are reserved for the four highest ranked conference champions, Georgia is the current No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff bracket because Oregon and Ohio State both can't be in the top four.
Kirby Smart and his team have a great chance to make a run at their third title in four seasons this year based solely on how talented their roster is and how good they have been playing recently, and this bracket does set up very nicely for the Bulldogs as well.
So let's dive right in and predict the potential CFP run for Georgia, including the final score of each game along the way.
Quarterfinals
Georgia's first matchup will come in the quarterfinals of the CFP, against the winner of Notre Dame and Penn State. This game would be played at Penn State, so the Nittany Lions would probably be the slight favorite in this game. But Penn State has been unable to win the big game under head coach James Franklin during his 11-year career, so let's move Notre Dame on to the next round to play Georgia.
However, regardless of who the opponent is, Georgia would have to feel very good about their chances.
Notre Dame is a very solid team, any team has to be if they're going to go to Texas A&M and beat the Aggies this season. But the Irish also have some question marks surrounding their team as well. One week after they beat Texas A&M, they lost to Nortern Illinoins at home. Sure they have won every game since then, but that loss shows how bad this team can be.
Notre Dame also doesn't do anything spectacular, which every team needs if they're going to win a national championship. Georgia on the other hand, is elite in more than a few areas.
Prediction: Georgia wins 38-17
