On Tuesday, Sep. 23, the SEC will announce future conference schedules for Georgia and every other SEC team for the next four years. Included in this announcement will be who Georgia's three annual opponents are they will play each season as well as who they will go up against next year in 2026.
So before this announcement is made next week, here is what Georgia fans could find out about their 2026 schedule next week.
Georgia's 3 annual SEC matchups
Every SEC team will play three opponents every season beginning next year. It seems like a given that Georgia will play Florida and Auburn every year, but their third annual rivalry could be anyone else.
The most likely outcome is an old SEC East opponent that Georgia used to play every season, and out of those teams South Carolina is one that stands out as a great option. There is a lot of history between Georgia and South Carolina and the Gamecocks make sense from a balanced competitive standpoint as well. So for this exercise, South Carolina will be the third annual opponent for Georgia beginning next year.
Georgia's 6 other SEC opponents in 2026
The second question Georgia needs answered is who their six other SEC opponents will be next season. There are 12 teams remaining for Georgia to play, and they will rotate between those teams every other year, so it ultimately doesn't matter who Georgia has on their schedule in 2026.
But with that being said, it would make sense for the SEC to give the Bulldogs some teams they haven't played over the last few years. So the six teams in this prediction to round out Georgia's 2026 SEC schedule are Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Texas, Missouri and LSU.
Georgia's big nonconference decision
Since Georgia will now play nine SEC teams every season, that means there is only room for three nonconference opponents each year. That is a problem for Georgia's 2026 schedule because they already have Georgia Tech, Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and Louisville scheduled.
The Bulldogs will have no choice but to cancel one of these games, and it's unlikely they will cancel on the Yellow Jackets. So Georgia will have to say farewell to either Tennessee State, Western Kentucky or Louisville. Unfortunately the most likely option is probably Louisville.
Full 12 game schedule
Assuming Louisville is the team Georgia cancels on, this is what UGA's full 2026 schedule could look like. It's worth noting that the SEC won't announce dates for next year's schedule until December.
