The 2025 college football season is almost here, which means everyone is going to dissect every team and every conference. In the preseason SEC quarterback rankings by LouisianaSports.net, they have Gunner Stockton ranked disturbingly low for the upcoming season.
Stockton was ranked No. 13 out of 16 quarterbacks in the SEC, making him out to be one of the worst quarterbacks heading into next season. This seems absolutely puzzling, as Stockton did the best he could for Georgia when he had to step in last season in the College Football Playoff.
Stockton may not be coming into the season with the most experience of many of the other quarterbacks, but he was able to help the Bulldogs take down Texas in the SEC Championship, and he put up solid numbers against Notre Dame in the Quarterfinal of the College Football Playoff.
Heading into the 2025 season, Stockton is going to have a whole offseason of working with the Georgia offense, and the wide receiver group coming back is a strong one, led by transfer Zechariah Branch. Stockton has all the tools to be a great quarterback this next football season, and No. 13 seems like way too low of a ranking.

Gunner Stockton's ranking is the only puzzling thing about these Preseason SEC QB rankings
Stockton being ranked at No. 13 in these preseason rankings seems crazy, but there are some other rankings that just don't make a lot of sense. The fact that Texas quarterback Arch Manning is ranked below Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia seems puzzling.
Pavis is a good quarterback, there is no denying that, but Manning clearly is better, there is a reason he is considered one of the best returning quarterbacks for college football this next season. Pavia needs to be ranked lower than Manning, Florida quarterback DJ Lagway, and Gunner Stockton.
