Ranking the level of concern for Georgia football's offensive coaching staff

Georgia football needs to get a lot more out of their offensive coaching staff if they are going to have a better season in 2025.

2. Offensive line coach - Stacey Searels

No one on the Georgia staff has endured more calls for their immediate replacement than Stacey Searels. In 2024, his offensive line experienced collective deficiencies that have not been seen in Athens in quite some time. Georgia ranked next to last in the SEC and 102nd nationally in rushing (124.4 ypg), and 8th in the SEC and tied for 58th nationally in tackles for loss allowed (67). More disturbing was protection. UGA ranked 6th in the SEC and tied for 62nd nationally in sacks allowed (25) this season. That is twelve more sacks than the team allowed the year prior.

It appears that Searels will survive calls for his firing, but like Bobo, if Georgia does not see significant improvement with the OL next season, there does not appear to any path for him to survive a second round of disappointment.

Success next season is going to be hard to come by because Georgia is losing a lot of players from thier 2024 offseason line. But maybe that is a good thing. The Bulldogs line struggled so much last season that a fresh batch of new players might just be exactly what they need.
