One of Georgia’s most recent recruiting losses occurred on June 22 when four-star wide receiver Tyren Wortham committed to Michigan State over UGA. Georgia was one of four schools who hosted Wortham on an official visit this summer, but his trip to Athens wasn’t enough to keep him from committing to Michigan State.

Even though Georgia lost this recruitment though, they aren’t giving up hope just yet as Rivals John Garcia Jr. reported on Monday.

Georgia has found new life in recruitment for 4-star WR

As mentioned, Wortham chose to commit to Michigan State over Georgia at the end of June. Losing a commit to Michigan would never be that surprising, but losing to their in-state rival is a bit jarring.

Even though UGA did lose Wortham’s recruitment at first, they are not giving up in their pursuit. This report from Rivals indicates that both Georgia and Auburn are still aggressively pursuing Wortham. There was however another report indicating an SEC school already plans to host Wortham on a visit this fall.

This social media post doesn’t specifically state which SEC program already has a visit scheduled with Wortham, but reading between the lines makes it seem like it is Georgia. The picture used in the above post is from Wortham’s previous visit to Athens, as seen by the Georgia shirt being worn. On top of that, several Georgia specific media members ran with this post and amplified it themselves.

Now this doesn’t guarantee that Georgia is the team who already has a visit scheduled with Wortham, but it seems more than likely that this is the case.

Regardless, it is confirmed that Georgia is still aggressively pursuing Wortham, and at worst they have a shot to host him on a visit this fall. And considering Wortham is from the south (Florida) and is committed to a school like Michigan State, there are plenty of reasons for UGA fans to be hopeful he flips to the Bulldogs.
