2. Kentucky WR Dane Key

Another player that Georgia showed immense interest in is Kentucky transfer wide receiver Dane Key. Key is just as good of a player as Branch as 247Sports has him ranked as the No. 10 player in the entire portal and the No. 4 wide receiver.

Georgia was a major player in Key's recruitment from the moment he entered the transfer portal. Georgia was one of the first schools that Key visited and every recruiting expert that commented on his recruitment always named Georgia as one of the teams to look out for.

Things hit an all time high last week when both 247Sports and On3 logged official predictions for Georgia to land Key out of the portal. However, those predictions did not hold up as Key followed his wide receiver coach from Kentucky and committed to Nebraska on Dec. 24.

This loss is an extremely tough one to overcome because Key was one of the best players in the portal and at a position Georgia needs a lot of help with. However, landing Branch who is yet to make his final decision will make this loss no longer matter, so hopefully Smart and his staff are able to do just that.
