The quarterback competition between Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi took yet another turn this weekend during Georgia's first fall scrimmage. A starting quarterback has not been named for this season yet, but the consensus has been that Stockton will will the job as the veteran QB of the two.

But reports came out after Georgia's scrimmage this weekend, and it sounds like Puglisi is making this decision extremely difficult on Kirby Smart and his staff.

Ryan Puglisi pushing Gunner Stockton more than expected

It is worth noting that the media was not allowed to attend Georgia's scrimmage this past weekend, but Mike Griffith with Dawg Nation was able to receive a lot inside information about what took place from inside sources who were present for the scrimmage. Griffith's sources had the following to say about Stockton's performance during the scrimmage.

"Quarterback Gunner Stockton made some nice throws, according to onlookers in attendance — the media was not allowed to watch first-hand — but it was the case of another slow start and the first-team offense struggling to get into the end zone," Mike Griffith shared via dawgnation.com.

This source then discussed Puglisi's performance, and it sounds like he made the best play out of him and Stockton.

"A touchdown pass from Ryan Puglisi to a well-covered Noah Thomas in the end zone was among the highlights noted, onlookers commenting on the variety of throws Puglisi was able to make with his strong arm," Griffith continued.

One advantage Stockton has over Puglisi is that he knows the offense a lot better. This likely will be the reason Stockton ends up on top in this quarterback competition in the long run, but it sounds like Pugisi is making this decision harder than most people thought it would be.

Smart and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo both hinted at Stockton winning the starting job last week, but based on this update from Georgia's scrimmage they may want to rethink who the true leader in this battle is.
