SEC has given all of Georgia's night games to a program no longer deserving of them

It is always hard to win on the road, but the SEC has decided to make it easier for Georgia's rivals.

Prior to the Alabama game, Georgia had won 33 games in a row Between the Hedges. This was the sport's longest active home winning streak. While teams like Washington and Missouri have seen their impressive ones go to the wayside since, there is a really good reason why Sanford Stadium is not seen in the same vein as Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. The Dawgs rarely play at night at home!

When it comes to the schedule, Georgia is far more often to play in the 12:00 p.m. ET time slot or the 3:30 p.m. ET to 4:00 p.m. ET time slot than ever getting a kick in primetime. Yes, they do get home games under the bright lights, but the SEC for some reason loves to have Georgia play Between the Hedges when the sun is still out. If you want proof, take a look at the following night game numbers.

Outside of SEC newcomers Oklahoma and Texas, here is everyone's home night game percentages.

  1. LSU Tigers: 83 percent
  2. South Carolina Gamecocks: 54 percent
  3. Kentucky Wildcats: 53 percent
  4. Florida Gators: 50 percent
  5. Alabama Crimson Tide: 49 percent
  6. Texas A&M Aggies: 49 percent
  7. Ole Miss Rebels: 44 percent
  8. Mississippi State Bulldogs: 42 percent
  9. Auburn Tigers: 41 percent
  10. Vanderbilt Commodores: 40 percent
  11. Missouri Tigers: 39 percent
  12. Tennessee Volunteers: 31 percent
  13. Georgia Bulldogs: 28 percent
  14. Arkansas Razorbacks: 23 percent

The SEC team over the last five years with few home night kicks than Georgia is little old Arkansas...

The SEC clearly favors pretty much every team over Georgia at night

The biggest problem in this is the gross outlier the SEC has at night. More often than not, LSU will be playing under the bright lights at Tiger Stadium. Death Valley is one of the best home venues in the sport, but it feels like after looking at this data that it has been manufactured into being that for the SEC. Could the SEC just have easily scheduled a few more night kicks in Athens? That would be cool.

In fact, only three other SEC teams have a 50 percent or better chance of playing at night than LSU. That would be South Carolina, Kentucky and Florida. Of those three teams, Florida has the best football history, but the Gators have not been as advertised for over a decade now. What exactly have South Carolina or Kentucky ever won to merit playing under the bright lights more so than Georgia?

This is not meant to disparage any of them for having rocking home environments, which they all do. It just goes to show how utterly gross of an infatuation the SEC has by giving seemingly every home game under the sun actually being a night kick for LSU. The fact there is a 55-percent discrepancy between LSU and Georgia for night kickoffs is rather insulting. What if we were to split the difference?

22.5-percent more night games would get Georgia to 50.5, while LSU would still have 60.5 percent...
