There have been a lot of teams after 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, as he is one of the top-rated prospects in the Class of 2026. Atkinson is ranked as the No. 9 prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 1 linebacker in the class of 2026, and the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia.
Georgia has recently become the front-runner for the top-ranked linebacker, but another SEC school has come into the picture. Atkinson has scheduled an official visit with the Texas Longhorns this upcoming weekend.
It looks like Texas is trying to break up the relationship that Georgia has created with Atkinson, who has made around a dozen visits to Athens over the last few years. The Longhorns are going to be able to give a nice offer to Atkinson with the NIL they are able to give. Georgia may struggle to match an offer from Texas, but they will rely on the relationship they have built with the Georgia native and the feeling he had when he had his official visit with the Bulldogs last weekend.

Atkinson's official visit to Georgia this past weekend marked the 15th time that the young linebacker has been to Athens. The Georgia native was not shy is sharing his feelings after his official visit to Georgia and shared that he felt like Georgia was a front-runner for his recruitment.

After the visit, 247Sports crystal-balled Atkinson to the Georgia Bulldogs, but this trip to Texas could be detrimental to that prediction. Even though Atkinson said the official visit to Georgia was unforgettable, he could feel the same way after his trip to Austin this weekend.
Georgia fans will want to keep a close eye on what Atkinson posts this weekend, as this is not a recruit the Bulldogs want to lose with all the time they have put into his recruitment.
