Georgia football sophomore edge defender Damon Wilson has finally announced his transfer intentions. After he shocked UGA by entering the transfer portal after the season, there was much speculation linking him to Ohio State, but Wilson will be staying in the SEC and taking his talents to the University of Missouri.

Damon Wilson will be missed at Georgia

Damon's departure came as a shock to everyone in Bulldog Nation as he was viewed as a key contributor for the upcoming 2025 Georgia defense. The Bulldogs already lost its best pass rusher in Jalon Walker, who announced that he would be forgoing his senior season for the NFL. So many thought Wilson would be the next in line to fill in and help replace Walker. That however will unfortunately not be occurring.

Wilson was a member of Georgia's vaunted 2023 recruiting class who was a five-star recruit out of Venice, FL. After garnering very little playing time during his freshman season, he saw a significant jump in snaps in 2024. Wilson finishes his Georgia career with 3.5 sacks, 24 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. This production over two years may not be extremely impressive, but as mentioned, Wilson was likely to see a much bigger role in Athens next season. That is why his departure was such a shock to many people and fans of the program.

Wilson joins a long list of Bulldogs who have elected to look for better opportunities elsewhere this transfer portal season, which includes quarterback Carson Beck who is heading to Miami and running back Trevor Etienne who is off to the NFL.
