Step aside Jared Curtis, Georgia has offered a new No. 1 recruit

The biggest commitment of the 2026 recruiting class so far for Georgia football is five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. This commitment will be nearly impossible to top because Curtis is the No. 1 QB in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Curtis however is not the overall No. 1 player in the country as he comes in at No. 4 in 247Sports composite rankings, so theoretically it is possible for Georgia to land a bigger commitment based on ranking alone.

And it appears Georgia now has their eyes set on the No. 1 overall recruit in the country, kicker Harran Zureikat.

In all seriousness, Zureikat is not a better recruit than Curtis and Georgia earning his commitment would not top Curtis either. In fact, kickers aren't even ranked in the same rankings that every other position is.

Kickers are ranked with their own metrics on a completely different website, Kohl's Kicking.

According to these rankings, Zureikat is the No. 1 kicker in the 2026 recruiting class as well as the No. 4 punter as well. So he is about as important of a recruit as a special teams player can get.

This scholarship offer may not seem like a big deal to many Georgia fans because he is just a special teams player at the end of the day. But kickers and punters do so much more for a football team than they will ever get credit for. Kickers can quite literally be the difference between a win and a loss, especially when they are called upon to hit a last second field goal to win the game. Punting has just as much of an impact as well because an elite punter can flip the field when their offense stalls.

So even though this commitment wouldn't rival Curtis's, it would be a massive pickup for the Bulldogs if they are able to convince Zureikat that Georgia is the place to be.
