Georgia football currently sits with just six commits in their 2026 recruiting class, but Kirby Smart and his staff are looking to quickly add to that total. Now that spring ball is in full swing, Georgia is hosting many elite recruits as they try to show them why UGA is the right place for them.
But not only is Georgia hosting many top ranked recruits across the country, but they are also hosting some underrated recruits as well, including three-star EDGE Chris Carbin.
Carbin may only be the No. 624 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings, but that isn't stopping Georgia from targeting him. Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorey recently provided an update on Carbin's recruitment, and it sounds like he is ready to commit to the Bulldogs if given the chance.
"Georgia Tech, South Florida and Wake Forest are standing out the most now to the Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove standout but is sniffing around pretty heavily," Gorey shared via uga.rivals.com. "Carbin was told the Bulldogs are looking for a true outside linebacker and he 'literally fits the description.' Georgia’s coaches will be by again during spring practice and if an offer comes it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Carbin commit on the spot."
Corbin's low ranking isn't a bad thing
For better or for worse, the public lives and dies by a recruits rankings. But that isn’t how a serious coaching staff operates.
Every recruiting class there are multiple players who come out of nowhere and prove to be one of the best players in the country after being ranked very low. Georgia and Smart have even found a lot of success on that front over the years as well.
So if Smart and his staff are interested in a player, then who cares what they are ranked. Georgia is the best program in the country, so it goes without saying that they will only recruit players that are worth their time.
