Georgia football has played Tennessee in a lot of marquee matchups in recent years. However, those highly anticpated meetings have never resulted in that great of games because of how dominant UGA has been in their rivalry against the Volunteers.

Tennessee has been an annual opponent for Georgia for years now, so there is a lot of recent history between the two SEC foes. The bad news for Tennessee fans is that recent history heavily favors Georgia as the Bulldogs have won eight straight meetings agains the Vols.

Not only has Georgia won eight straight games against Tennessee, but they have done so in impressive fashion as all eight wins have been by at least 14 points. So while Tennessee has been a good program over the last few years, even their fanbase can't deny that they are multiple steps behind Georgia and the other top teams in the SEC.

Knowing how bad Georgia has beaten them over the last decade, Tennessee would likely do anything they can to beat UGA this fall when the Bulldogs head to Knoxville during their week three SEC opener. This is especially true because it isn't a guarantee these teams play for a few years after their matchup this fall.

One thing Tennessee announced earlier this week that they hope will help swing things in their favor is that they will be checkering their stadium for this game.

Will this increase Tennessee's chances at winning?

Everyone knows how much of an impact fans have on a college football game. A rowdy fanbase can drastically improve a team's chances at winning a game because they can force their opponent into penalties, costly mistakes and wasted timeouts.

This impact on a game increases for a marquee matchup like this game, and Tennessee having their fanbase checker the stadium will only add to it even more. But this announcement will likely have no impact on the final result of the game.

If this was a balanced rivalry over the last few years then one could argue this could swing things Tennessee's way, but considering how dominant Georgia has been it's hard to imagine anything Tennessee does off the field having an impact. Maybe this will be the year the Vols finally get it done against Georgia, but instead of hoping they win maybe they should focus on keeping the final score respectable this season.
