The Georgia Bulldogs have had some great receiving talent the past few seasons. From Brock Bowers to George Pickens, the Kirby Smart era has provided some great pass catchers.
However, Terrence Edwards' career total in receiving yards still remains the most in program history.
On Thursday, Edwards joined the DawgNation Daily podcast and talked about Georgia's upcoming matchup against Texas. Edwards was asked by host Brandon Adams who he thought could have a big day catching the football on Saturday, and Edwards stated he believed Dillon Bell has the best chance to succeed.
Terrence Edwards believes in Dillon Bell
Edwards reaped praises to Bell not just for his ability to catch the football, but because of the vast ways that he is a difference maker in other aspects on offense.
Edwards stated that he can have a big day not necessarily just catching passes down the field, just his ability to block on the perimeter, his ability to run the football on jet sweeps. And he is right, Bell has been a Swiss army knife for Georgia. Fans can remember in 2024 when running backs were facing injuries and Bell would line up in the backfield on certain plays, and it's that versatility that can lead him to have a big game against the Longhorns.
Bell's Performance This Season
Though his contribution to the team is not as significant as it was a season ago, Bell has still made a great impact on Georgia's season. Bell currently has 204 receiving yards on the year paired with 74 rushing yards and three total touchdowns.
Last season, Bell was the go-to guy in a wide receiver room that was limited and not near as deep as this year's depth chart. Bell had 466 receiving yards total on the year along with four touchdowns in 2024.
Like Edwards said, Bell has seen his productivity ramp up over the past few weeks. 90 percent of Bell's production has come since October, including a 68-yard receiving game paired with two rushing touchdowns against Kentucky.
Potential impact on Saturday
Georgia's identity is their ability to run the football. Texas always has a deep and talented defensive line rotation that will make it difficult on the running backs to get going. For Texas to let up in the middle, Georgia will have to make them respect the outside run.
Gunner Stockton's legs along with jet sweeps to Bell could do just that. Look for Bell to have a very similar game like he did against Kentucky this year or against Tennessee in 2023 when he had 90 receiving yards along with a receiving and passing touchdown.
