Georgia and Texas are days away from playing the biggest game of their seasons. That's at least what Georgia thinks as they recognize how important it is to continue beating a program like Texas. The Longhorns on the other hand don't seem to fully grasp how important this game is.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was asked what this game means to the Longhorns, and he downplayed the importance of it as much as possible.

“If we want to play in an SEC championship game, gotta win Saturday night. It just is what it is, so let’s focus on what we need to do today to make that happen.”

Steve Sarkisian doesn't think their game vs Georgia is important

Sarkisian at least recognizes how important Saturday's game is when it comes to the race to win the SEC. The loser of this game will be eliminated from contention to win the conference this year, so he at least knows how important this game is when it comes to the conference title.

There are however countless other reasons this game matters, yet Sarkisian doesn't seem to recognize that.

This game has a lot of College Football Playoff implications on it as well as both teams look to lock in their spot in the 12-team field. Since Texas already has two losses though this game means even more to them on the CFP front. If they lose to Georgia they will all but likely be eliminated from playoff contention while a loss for UGA would still see them inside the 12-team field. That somehow isn't important to Sarkisian though.

This matchup will also impact recruiting as well as Texas and Georgia regularly battle it out for some of the best recruits in the country. So the winner of this game will have a slight edge in those recruiting battles going forward.

There's no denying how important this game is to Georgia, but it seems like Texas doesn't fully realize how big of a deal it is. That however is a good thing for Georgia and could end up being the difference when these two sides meet Saturday night.
