Texas WR Cam Coleman's viral highlight plays right into Kirby Smart, Georgia's hand

Texas wide receiver Cam Coleman made what could be one of the best catches of the college football season, and it's only the first week of fall camp. The media and fan reaction to this catch was absurd though as some people took this as an opportunity to stake their claim that Texas is the best team in the country, and those claims gave Kirby Smart and Georgia a new way to be motivated this year.

Georgia is the favorite to win the SEC this season. Heading into the 2024 and 2025 seasons the Longhorns were the favorite in the conference, and Georgia was able to use that to their advantage to give their team some extra motivation, that doesn't exist this season this though.

If Texas gets more hype from the media and college football fans though then maybe Smart can use that to help motivate his team this season and propel them to their third SEC title in a row.

College football media propping Texas up can help Georgia succeed

The college football media praising Texas all season can be used by Georgia to succeed even more this year. It all comes down to motivation. It's difficult being the team that everyone is talking about as that adds pressure that can be difficult to live up to. Georgia had this added pressure when they became the SEC favorite during SEC Media Days, but Texas is already taking it back.

This catch from Coleman led to media members making some crazy claims. Not only did some pick Texas to win a national championship after this catch, but others said they believe they have seven first round draft picks on their team this year.

Texas has had issues living up to the hype since joining the SEC. After being the favorite in the conference the last two years they failed to win the SEC even once, and as the preseason No. 1 team in the country last year they didn't even make the College Football Playoff.

Georgia on the other hand succeeded the last two years while living in Texas' shadow. They may not be in their shadow as much this year, but with every passing day the Texas hype machine is growing even more, and the less pressure on Georgia the better.

Auburn's failure with Cam Coleman should make Georgia fans very happy

Coleman is a transfer wide receiver from Auburn. He spent two years with the Tigers, and those two seasons were utter failures as Auburn went 5-7 during both years. These bad seasons led to the firing of head coach Hugh Freeze and Coleman leaving the program, and for Georgia it is nice that an immense talent like that no longer plays for one of their rivals.

A big reason the last two seasons were failures for Auburn was due to them not featuring Coleman in their offense as much as they should. He still recorded 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns last year, but he is plenty good enough where he could've easily had over 1,000 yards and double digit touchdowns.

Auburn refused to use him correctly, and that is one reason he ultimately left for Texas. The Longhorns however may not make the same mistake as Auburn, but from Georgia's perspective that is okay.

Georgia would much rather see Texas win than Auburn since the Tigers are one of their rivals. On top of that, Georgia and Texas don't play this season, so unless both teams meet in the SEC Championship game or playoff they won't have to worry about Coleman at all.

Coleman is still a threat to Georgia, just not nearly as much as he would've been at Auburn since the Tigers are on Georgia's schedule this year. That is a good enough reason for Georgia to be happy since Coleman could be one of the best players in college football this year.
