Last week Brendan Sorsby was granted an injunction which will allow him to play quarterback for Texas Tech this fall. This decision came after Sorsby was found to be gambling on college football, which included placing bets against his own team, at his prior stops before transferring to Texas Tech.
This decision by the courts was met with a lot of angst from the sports world. This includes Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks who informed every athletics program at Georgia to not play Texas Tech in any sport after the court's ruling.
The rest of the country loved seeing Georgia take this step, but Texas Tech was furious that Brooks chose to do this. No one should care what Texas Tech thinks though, especially after the Big 12 filed a formal complaint against Texas Tech Monday morning.

The Big 12 validated Josh Brooks by standing up to Texas Tech amid Brendan Sorsby gambling ruling
It's one thing for a program like Georgia to say they won't play Texas Tech in any sport. Georgia is in a completely different conference and they normally don't play the Red Raiders in any sport, so while this stance made national news in reality it doesn't actually do all that much.
The Big 12 filing this complaint against one of their own schools though is when things will get interesting.
This report indicates that the Big 12 isn't asking for the Sorsby ruling to be reversed, instead they are asking for permission to enforce their bylaws against Texas Tech and punish them for their actions in the Sorsby case. This could include fining Texas Tech along with refusing to let them play in the Big 12 Championship game.
Texas Tech just won the Big 12 last year and are the favorites to do so again this year, so that would be a very large punishment to hand out to the Red Raiders.
How has Brendan Sorsby's case impacted Georgia?
Georgia wasn't involved in Sorsby's case until they forced themselves into the conversation. Brooks however has said he doesn't regret getting involved and he absolutely does not regret his notice he sent out to not play Texas Tech in any sport.
Brooks believes he is doing the moral thing and he will not stand down even if Texas Tech reps are extremely upset at him and Georgia.
So while Georgia is an afterthought in this case now after the Big 12's complaint on Monday, Brooks can sit back in his desk and smile because everything he has said over the last week has just been validated.
