The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is one of the most historic rivalries in all of college football. It is a special day whenever Georgia and Florida take the field together because every game they play will be remembered and talked about forever.
The hatred between these two teams and fanbases is real, so it goes without saying that everyone will be a little more focused and excited going into this game. But this matchup means a little more to Georgia running back Chauncey Bowens because he once thought he was going to be a Florida Gator before he committed to Georgia.
Saturday's matchup vs Florida is extra important to Chauncey Bowens
Bowens is in his second season at Georgia and he has quickly emerged as one of UGA's top running backs. In fact, he has been the best running back so far this season as he leads the team with 376 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns which only trails Gunner Stockton's seven.
Bowens however was almost not a Bulldog. He actually was close to being a Florida Gator as he was originally committed to Florida during his recruiting process. But after his summer official visit to Georgia in 2023 he immediately turned his back on Florida and committed to Georgia.
Bownes did not play against Florida last season as a true freshman, so Saturday will be his first true taste of this rivalry. And it goes without saying how motivated he will be to show why flipping his commitment to Georgia was the right choice for him.
On the flip side however, Florida will want to keep him in check to show Bowens that he made a mistake going to Georgia instead. But based on how Bowens season has gone up to this point and the struggles Florida has endured, it's likely that Bowens will get the last laught.
Kickoff between Georgia and Florida is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST on Saturday, Nov. 1. Georgia is currently favored to beat the Gators by 7.5 points.
