Georgia football enters the 2025 season as the reigning SEC Champions, and everyone knows they have a great chance to repeat as champions once again this season. But there are some teams out there who pose a serious threat to winning the conference this fall.

One of those teams is Texas, who was the second best team in the conference last season. Georgia beat the Longhorns twice last year, once on the road and once in the SEC title game in Atlanta, so the Longhorns may be the team most motivated to take UGA down this season.

Texas will have at least one chance to do so as Georgia's SEC finale this season is a home date with the Longhorns, and there is always the chance these teams do battle in the SEC Championship game once again this season.

And while Georgia was able to handle their business against the Longhorns last year, it is going to be a lot more difficult to do so this season.

Texas is spending an unreal amount of NIL money

According to multiple reports, Texas is spending upwards of $35-40 million on their roster for the upcoming season. This is nearly double the amount they spent on their team last year that were the runner-ups in the SEC who also made it to the College Football Playoff semifinals. This total is also double what Ohio State, who won the National Championship last year, spent on their roster.

So what does this mean for Georgia? This theoretically means that Texas is going to be much stronger this season and that much more difficult to beat. But in the real world, that might not be the case.

There are plenty of examples throughout the last few years of teams spending a lot of money on their roster just to still have very mediocre seasons. It's unlikely that Texas will have a mediocre year this season, but spending a lot of money does not guarantee a lot of success.

And with Kirby Smart still roaming Georgia's sideline, every team in the SEC, including Texas, should still be concerned with Georgia.
