The Third Saturday in October is usually reserved for one game in the SEC. That day belongs to Alabama and Tennessee as they play their rivalry matchup every year on the third Saturday of the month.
Considering both teams have been very strong over the last few years, this rivalry has deserved the attention it gets. That is especially the case this past weekend when both teams were ranked inside the top 11 of the AP Poll. But Georgia wasn't going to let them have their moment this season as their matchup against Ole Miss drew nearly 2 million more viewers then Tennessee and Alabama's primetime matchup.

Georgia stole all the viewers from the Third Saturday in October
While a top 11 matchup between Tennessee and Alabama is about as big as a game can get, Georgia and Ole Miss took control of the weekend. Georgia was the No, 9 team in the country and Ole Miss was No. 5, so this game was between higher ranked opponents. On top of that, ESPN's College GameDay chose to come to Athens for this game instead of Alabama where they got to witness a 43-35 comeback victory for Georgia.
The final nail in the coffin though was seen when the viewership numbers came out, and those numbers showed that Georgia and Ole Miss averaged nearly 2 million more viewers than Tennessee and Alabama. The Bulldogs and Rebels brought in an average of 9.8 million viewers and peaked at 11.3 million while Tennessee and Alabama brought in an average of 8 million viewers with a peak of 9.1 million.
So it's clear that college football fans preferred Georgia's game with Ole Miss (which isn't even a rivalry) compared to Alabama and Tennessee which is one of the biggest rivalries in the sport.
Georgia has dominated viewership totals all season, and that trend likely will continue next week when they face Florida on ABC at 3:30 pm EST on Nov. 1.
