This throw alone shows how locked in Gunner Stockton is for Georgia right now

These are the type of throws that will help get Gunner Stockton drafted after next college season.

It has been almost a week since the Georgia Bulldogs manhandled the Alabama Crimson Tide 28-7 in the SEC Championship Game. It was Georgia's first win in Atlanta over their perpetual nemesis. While it did feel cathartic for everyone involved on the UGA side of things, we may not have paid as much attention to some of the great throws Gunner Stockton made throughout the contest. He was sharp!

On the evening, Stockton completed 20-of-26 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns, to go along with 13 carries for 39 yards. Stockton leaves his best for when the game requires it, very much like what made Stetson Bennett IV so special for Georgia not that long ago. What really stands out from Stockton's vastly improving game is his proficiency in the red zone. He is like Cam Newton now.

This one throw from Stockton to wide receiver Dillon Bell for six points is going to get him drafted.

Stockton may never be the most natural thrower of the football, but he throws a catchable football, one that he is finally starting to learn how to layer. Again, this is only his first full season as the starter. So far on the year, he has completed 70.7 percent of his passes for 2,691 yards and 23 touchdowns to only five interceptions in 13 starts. He has complete command of Mike Bobo's offense thus far.

If Stockton can make throws like this in January, Georgia is bound to win yet another national title.

Georgia QB Gunner Stockton may be a draftable NFL prospect after all

Look. Under no circumstances should Stockton turn pro after this season, even though he is draft-eligible. He has one more year of eligibility to work with. Given that he is player for his home state's team that is dripping with offensive skill-position talent, why would he want to walk away from this? Stockton will not win the Heisman Trophy this year, but he might be a serious contender next season.

While he could make far more money in terms of NIL than he would as a day-three pick, he could potentially elevate his NFL Draft stock even further with a great last season at UGA in 2026. There are components of his game that will translate to the next level, but he still has room to grow. As long as he continues to be a maestro behind the line of scrimmage pre-snap, the sky is the limit for this guy.

Overall, Stockton is the perfect leader for this team because he is 100 percent authentically himself. Yes, everyone tries to be authentic most of the time, but it just comes naturally to him. The best part about watching him grow and thrive this season has been the growing belief his teammates have in him. Stockton is the guy, and they would not have it any other way. This is why Georgia is dangerous.

Georgia may not win the College Football Playoff, but they are one of a handful of teams who could.
