With the transfer portal coming to a close at the end of the week, more and more teams are looking to fill out the rest of their rosters. Although the Georgia Bulldogs were not really expected to be a player for him, it is getting quite alarming how many teams UGA legacy Justice Haynes is racking up in the transfer portal. The son of Verron Haynes has played at Alabama and Michigan already thus far.
On Wednesday afternoon, Haynes has signed up to go play for Brent Key at Georgia Tech in Atlanta...

Look. The Buford High School product may just want to play closer to home on a College Football Playoff contender. Georgia Tech provides that. Key is a fantastic coach. He will be playing for another GT alum in George Godsey, who replaces Buster Faulkner as the offensive coordinator. However, Haynes being the son of Mr. Hobnail Boot himself is landing a certain way with Georgia football fans...
Haynes is racking up more college football uniforms, but he is not quite on TJ Finley's level just yet...
Georgia legacy Justice Haynes commits to Georgia Tech in the portal
In the wake of Georgia landing former Kentucky running back Dante Dowdell out of the portal, as well as incumbents Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens saying they were coming back, where were their carries to be had for Haynes on this roster? Georgia does like to implement a deep stable of running backs, but going four or five deep seems a bit farfetched. Maybe there was no room to be had here?
Regardless, for as long as Key remains in charge of Georgia Tech, the Ramblin' Wreck are not going to be going away anytime soon. Replacing Faulkner with another George O'Leary guy like Key in Godsey means that Kirby Smart's team better be on high alert for the next few installments of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate. Eventually, they will beat Georgia again, but let's try to delay it for as long as we can.
Ultimately, we have to keep in mind that just because someone is a legacy of a certain college football team does not mean a player will do what his famous family member did. After all, Peyton Manning did not play at Ole Miss. His nephew Arch decided to carve his own path away from Oxford or Knoxville. Look how that turned out. It is just still kind of baffling that Haynes will never be a Dawg.
For now, this is a smart pickup for Georgia Tech, one that directly puts pressure on Dowdell at UGA.
