Georgia football had one of their best games of the season on Saturday when they defeated No. 7 Tennessee 31-17. There were many elite performances all over the field for Georgia in this game, but a few players definitely rose to the occassion more than others and helped lead Georgia to a victory in a game they had to win.

Three of these players have just received major weekly awards, and it is not a surprise seeing any of them earn these honors.

1. QB Carson Beck

The first Bulldog to receive a major weekly honor is quarterback Carson Beck, who was named the Reese's Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week.

Winning this award should surprise no one as Beck arguably had the best game of his career on Saturday. He completed 25 of 40 passes on Saturday for 347 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 32 big yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown as well. But most importantly, Beck did not have one turnover the entire game.

Beck has been a very up and down player this season, but if this is the version of Beck Georgia gets the rest of the season, then UGA is going to have a chance to make a deep postseason run.

2. OL Tate Ratledge

Up next is offensive lineman Tate Ratledge, who was named the SEC Co-Offensive Line Player of the Week.

Ratledge had a rough game last week against Ole Miss in what was his first game back from injury. He looked like he wasn't 100 percent and he gave up multiple big plays for the Rebels' defense that game.

This week however was a competely different story. Georgia's entire offensive line was on top of their game, and Ratledge was one of the biggest reasons why. Ratledge helped lead the Bulldogs' line all night long in a game they did not allow one sack in. If the offensive line can continue to do that, then UGA will have a shot to win any game the rest of this season.

3. Punter Brett Thorson

Having an elite punter is such an underrated thing in football, but every great team needs an elite punter who is able to flip the field after their offense stalls out. And that is exactly what Georgia got on Saturday from their punter Brett Thorson.

Thorson had four punts during the Tennessee game, and had a whopping 44.5 average in those punts. Thorson also had one tackle in the game as well, which may have saved a touchdown in the first quarter.

This performance from Thorson was good enough to earn him SEC Co-Special Teams Player of the Week.

It is nice knowing that Georgia has a punter they can rely on whenver they need to flip the field. So when Georgia inevitably has their next low scoring game, they know they will be able to rely on Thorson to help pin the opposing offense back on their end of the field as deep as possible.

And even better, Georgia knows he can come up with a touchdown saving tackle if needed.
