The day is finally here for five-star quarterback Jared Curtis to announce his final commitment. The No. 1 QB in the 2026 recruiting class was a one time Georgia commit, but that commitment did not hold towards the end of 2024.

Georgia not only has stayed in the race for Curtis since he decommitted, but they also were named one of two finalists for Curtis along with Oregon. The Ducks were thought to be the favorite for most of this recruitment, but things have shifted over time to the point where it wouldn’t be surprising for either UGA or Oregon to win.

So as his commitment is set to come to a conclusion later on Monday, let’s take a quick look at two things that really stand out in Curtis’s recruitment and how they could impact his final decision.

The below information was shared by Jeff Sentell of dawgnation.com.

NIL is not playing a big factor

Many have assumed that Curtis would be committing to the school who makes the highest NIL bid, but that however is not the case. Dawg Nation was able to confirm that neither Georgia nor Oregon offered Curtis the highest NIL amount, so the notion that NIL is the most important thing to him is false.

On top of that, most believe that neither school will come in at the final hour with a much higher NIL offer to try and sway his decision at the last second.

Immediately shutting his recruitment down

Dawg Nation also believes that Curtis will completely shut down his recruitment after announcing his commitment. He will do this for two big reasons, to focus on his senior season in high school and help recruit a better 2026 class to whichever school he ends up picking.

Curtis is scheduled to announce his commitment at 5:30 pm EST on Monday, May 5.
