After a wild regular season in the SEC, two familiar teams emerged as the top dogs that will get a chance to play for an SEC Championship. Those teams are Georgia and Alabama who will battle each other for the fifth time in the history of the SEC Championship game.

It is must watch TV whenever these teams play as they are two of the best programs the sport has to offer. So anticipation for this matchup will continue to grow as this will be a game no one will want to miss.

Georgia vs Alabama opening spread

Vegas oddsmakers released their opening spread for this matchup immediately after Alabama beat Auburn Saturday night to clinch their spot in the championship game. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Georgia is a 1.5 point favorite for this contest.

It is a bit surprising to see Georgia favored over Alabama because the Crimson Tide beat UGA in Athens earlier this season. On top of that, Alabama has beat Georgia nine of the last 10 times they have played each other. The Crimson Tide are also a perfect 4-0 when these two teams have met in the SEC Championship game as well.

However, Georgia is a perfect 8-0 since losing to Alabama earlier this season. The Crimson Tide also lost to Oklahoma at home two weeks ago and barely beat a bad Auburn team Saturday night. So even though Alabama beat Georgia already this season, Vegas believes Georgia has been the better team as of late.

Kickoff between Georgia and Alabama is scheduled for 4:00 pm EST on Saturday, Dec. 6. Georgia is going to have to be at their very best if they want to win this game, and if they do they will clinch their spot in the top four of the College Football Playoff rankings and repeat as SEC Champions for the first time under Kirby Smart.
