Georgia football is gearing up for the biggest game of their season. The Bulldogs will begin their College Football Playoff journey against the Ole Miss Rebels on Jan. 1 at 8:00 pm EST at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
The Bulldogs have already beat Ole Miss once this season. On top of that, the Rebels no longer have Lane Kiffin roaming their sidelines as well. Add all of that together and most of the college football world believes Georgia will win with ease, but that is not what Vegas thinks.
Georgia football vs Ole Miss spread is moving quickly
Vegas favored Georgia by 6.5 points when they first released their spread. That however quickly changed to 7.5 points in less than 24 hours. This movement represented a growing confidence both from the betting public and Vegas that Georgia would win this game with ease.
That confidence however has quickly died down as Georgia once again is only favored by 6.5 points according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
The spread more than likely will continue to sit at about a touchdown in favor of Georgia, and that is a reasonable spread considering UGA won the first matchup by eight points. But there are a lot of reasons to think that Georgia will cover this spread next week.
Georgia's offense played so well in the first matchup, so much so that they never had to punt the ball. They clearly know how to be successful against the Ole Miss defense, and the expectations are for that to remain the same. Georgia's defense has also looked like one of the best units in the country over the last month, and they certainly will play much better in this game than the first matchup.
Ole Miss will also be without Lane Kiffin which will impact their preparations and overall performance as well.
The only thing that matters at the end of the day is Georgia leaving New Orleans with a win. They could win by one point or 100, but as long as they win and advance to the semifinals then there will be a good reason to celebrate in Athens.
