Georgia football’s fall camp got underway on Thursday, but a starting quarterback is yet to be named. Many Georgia fans believe it is Gunner Stockton’s job to lose, but redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi has been given every chance to prove why he should win the starting job.

One of the players interviewed before practice on Thursday was veteran tight end Oscar Delp. And while he didn’t come out and say who he thinks the starter should be, he made a pretty compelling case for why it should be Stockton.

"He’s prepared like the starting QB for four years. He’s going to continue to do that. There’s no one I trust more than Gunner.”

It’s important to note that Delp didn’t come out and say that he believes Srockton should be the starter, but it’s pretty easy to see from the above quote that this is what he thinks.

Both Stockton and Puglisi are more than capable of leading Georgia to success this season, but Stockton does have one thing on his side that Puglisi does not have. Experience.

Delp put it best when he said that Stockton’s been preparing like a starter for four years now, so there likely isn’t anyone on the team that knows the offense better than him. That is especially the case when comparing his four years to the one year Puglisi’s been at Georgia.

Delp also shared that there’s no one he trusts more than Srockton, which again speaks to why he thinks Stockton should be named the starter. And while Delp won’t have a true say in who the starter will be, it’d be silly for the coaching staff not to put some value into the opinion of a veteran player.

It’s unclear when the final decision will be made for who the starting quarterback will be, but if Delp has any say it will be Srockton that takes the field with the offense on Aug. 30 against Marshall.
