The week 10 AP Poll is out, and after a calm week at the top of the rankings there was very little shakeup among the best teams in the country. Georgia held steady at No. 5 while Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M and Alabama remained as the four teams ahead of UGA.

This is the final week the AP Poll will hold any relevance in college football as the first release of the College Football Playoff rankings come out next week. While the AP Poll doesn’t have any direct correlation to where the CFP will rank teams, it is a good indication of what the committee might do. And seeing how the AP Poll has teams positioned at the top, it’s hard to see the committee deciding to do anything different with Georgia.
SEC continues to dominate the AP Poll
The SEC continues to lead the way in the AP Poll as they had nine selections in the latest update. The conference had 10 teams for a few weeks, but another loss from LSU sent the Tigers outside the poll this week.
Ole Miss remained in the top 10 at No. 7 after a big win at Oklahoma while Vanderbilt slid up one spot to No. 9.
Missouri and Oklahoma stayed just inside the top 20 even after their losses, and Tennessee moved up to No. 14 after a dominant offensive showing. Last but not least is Texas who has been having an awful season, but they still find themselves in the top 25 at No. 20.
The final five weeks in the SEC are going to be a movie. Six teams still have a great chance to make the SEC Championship game while nine teams have a shot to make the College Football Playoff. Each week will feature matchups that have huge implications on both the SEC title game and CFP, so fans of the conference better buckle up because it’s going to be a wild finish to the season.
