5. Texas Longhorns

Week 1 Ranking: 1

Week 1 Result: 14-7 loss @ Ohio State

The Arch Manning era at Texas has come to a screeching halt. To be fair to Texas, losing on the road in week one at Ohio State is not a bad loss on paper by any means, but the manner in which they lost is enough for Texas fans to be very concerned.

This Longhorns team has all the talent in the world, but Manning, who is a former No. 1 overall recruit, held his team back the entire game. Manning finished the game completing just 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception while only mustering seven points for their offense all game long.

Texas's defense does deserve a lot of credit for holding the Buckeyes to just 14 points, but the Texas offense has a lot of work to do. The Longhorns goals are still in front of them, but they no longer belong in the same category with the other contenders in the SEC.

Week 2 Opponent: San Jose State
