Another week of college football is in the books which means it is time for the latest edition of the AP Poll rankings. Last week Georgia moved up one spot to No. 5 after their overtime win over Tennessee, but the Bulldogs were on a bye this week so they weren't able to plead their case for why they should continue moving up the rankings.

And for that reason, and the fact that no upsets occurred to the teams above Georgia, the Bulldogs stayed put at No. 5 in the latest AP Poll rankings.

Ohio State also held steady at No. 1 in the AP Poll after having a bye week of their own. Miami (FL) however made a big jump to No. 2 after taking down Florida in dominant fashion 26-7. This forced Penn State to fall back to No. 3 while on a bye and LSU to move down to No. 4 after a blowout win over SE Louisiana.

Rounding out the top 10 in this week's AP Poll is No. 6 Oregon, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 8 Florida State, No. 9 Texas A&M and No. 10 Texas

AP Poll sets up massive showdown with Alabama

Georgia has a chance this week to prove they deserve to be ranked higher as they welcome No. 17 Alabama to Athens Saturday night. A win by any margin would cement Georgia as a top five team, but if they can win by a decent margin then UGA would have an argument to move up in the rankings regardless of what the teams in front of them do.

There is a chance however that a few teams above Georgia lose this weekend. Ohio State hits the road to play a Washington team this weekend who has won 22 games in a row at home. LSU also travels to No. 13 Ole Miss while Penn State hosts Oregon which are two games that could help UGA move up in the rankings as well.
