Georgia is gearing up for their SEC Championship rematch against Alabama this weekend. The Crimson Tide may have gotten the better of Georgia earlier this season, but the Bulldogs are in a great position to overcome that loss and repeat as SEC Champions this year.
However, winning this game will not be easy. Alabama is more than capable of beating UGA again, so it is important that Georgia does everything right entering this matchup. And this includes not letting Alabama live rent-free in their head as the game approaches.
That may be a hard thing to do, but Georgia can do three things to make sure they don't put themselves in a bad position entering this game.
1. Ignore the past
The easiest way for Georgia to beat themselves before even facing Alabama this weekend is by thinking that what has taken place in the past will have any impact on the game on Saturday. Alabama has won nine of the last 10 matchups against Georgia, and this includes seven wins out of eight against Kirby Smart. This could make Georgia feel like they have no chance against the Tide, but that is not the case.
Can Alabama beat Georgia again on Saturday? Absolutely, but they can't go into this matchup thinking that they will lose just because they have lost to Alabama so much before. So Georgia needs to focus on this one game alone and not think about what has taken place in the past.
2. Don't pay attention to what Alabama is saying
Alabama is very confident entering this matchup because of their recent success against Georgia. They are so confident that one player in particular has been talking about how much of a mismatch this game is in their favor.
Alabama has every right to talk because they have dominated Georgia, so the Bulldogs needs to ignore what they are saying and not let it distract them.
3. Understand they are the better team
Even though Alabama beat Georgia earlier this season, the Bulldogs are the better team. They have a better record than the Tide, they are ranked higher and they are predicted to win the game by Vegas.
So even though this matchup will be tough, Georgia can find some comfort in knowing that they are believed to be the better team entering this matchup.
