X user delivers viral takedown of Bret Bielema’s Georgia tampering claims

Bret Bielema's tampering claims were aimed directly at the Georgia Bulldogs. Now, the Illinois head coach has been shut down by a random online sports fan.

There are a few college football coaches who actually buy into the ridicule and drama on social media. Ole Miss's Lane Kiffin is one of the well-known exceptions. Now, Illinois head coach Bret Bielema has fallen into the same category.

After pointing fingers at Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs over allegations of tampering, Bielema has been sidelined by an everyday sports fan on X.

It all started when Bielema joined Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram, and Rob Stone on their show, The Triple Option, and shared his belief that Georgia must have reached out to former Illinois running back Xavier Lucas before he was ever in the transfer portal.

On3 wrote a story about his seemingly baseless claims, and then Bielema's tampering claims blew up in his face, fairly similar to an in-game Hail Mary gone entirely wrong

This war of words on X reads like some bad Bielema play-calling

A guy named Jon, with a username "Jon Tweets Sports," responded to the initial post from On3, virtually dropping back into coverage to stop Bielema's Hail Mary attempt. Jon gave a timeline of his own and called out Bielema for being out of touch with a normal person's flying experience.

Then, Jon dug in even further, giving a delayed corner blitz to disrupt Bielema's claim even more, citing an older quote from the Illinois head coach when he expressed that he wasn't surprised McCray ended up leaving for Georgia.

All of a sudden, the free safety (X user Radi Nabulsi), who hadn't been involved in the play up until this point, took out half of the receivers downfield, virtually cutting off the play at the knees.

The play wasn't over quite yet, but the clock was rapidly approaching zero. Bielema responded to Jon, acting as the offense's quarterback, and threw up a wobbly lame duck into triple coverage... never a good idea.

Of course, with the defense (Jon and the free safety Radi Nabulsi) in triple coverage, the ball was promptly knocked to the ground, and the clock hit zero. Game over. Bielema's argument was a moot point.

Immediately after the news broke of Bielema's claim, fans started ripping into the Illinois Fighting Illini head coach. After all, it's hard to point fingers at one of the most successful head coaches since the turn of the century.

Once Bielema decided to engage with Jon's defensive tactics on social media, fans (deservedly) started ripping the head coach to shreds.

The moral of the story? Well, there are a couple. Don't accuse Kirby Smart of tampering (especially without any concrete evidence), and definitely don't take to social media to defend your claims.
