Heading into the offseason Georgia already knew they needed some help at wide receiver out of the Transfer Portal. That however became even more apparent after Zachariah Branch declared for the NFL Draft on Monday.

Branch leaves an obvious hole in Georgia's depth chart as he was the No. 1 target for Gunner Stockton and the Georgia offense all season. His departure is something that Kirby Smart and his staff can't ignore, and thankfully they are already addressing his departure as they will reportedly be hosting Vanderbilt transfer wide receiver Tre Richardson on Tuesday.

Georgia to host perfect WR to replace Zachariah Branch

Branch announced his departure at the perfect time for Georgia. The Bulldogs can now sell perspective transfers on the available playing time with his departure, and after seeing the impressive season Branch had Georgia should be a very attractive landing spot for the best receivers in the country.

Richardson is coming off a very strong season with the Commordores as he racked up 46 receptions, 806 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns. That may not equal the amount of catches Branch had, but his receiving yards and touchdowns are nearly identical.

It will be interesting to see if Georgia can earn Richardson's commitment on Tuesday. He would immediately become a starter for Georgia if he comes to Athens, so adding him to the program as soon as possible has to be a top priority for Smart and his staff.

Stealing a player from Vanderbilt would also be quite nice after they took Jared Curtis from Georgia's 2026 recruiting class.

So out of all the names to monitor closely this portal season, Richardson should be at the top of the list. He is one of the top receivers in the Transfer Portal and someone that would change the trajectory of Georgia's season next year if he does come to UGA.
