The Georgia Bulldogs made a big pickup for their 2015 recruiting class on Thursday, when 4-Star tight end Jackson Harris (Columbia, Tn./Columbia Central) gave his verbal commitment to the school, according to a report from Dawgs247.com.

Harris has been called a throwback tight end, and at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, that’s not surprising. The big tight end made his announcement on ESPN’s RecrutingNation.com, and was proud to continue the tradition of great tight ends taking the field at Sanford Stadium.

247Sports composite rankings lists Harris as the No. 10 tight end in the country and the No. 222 player overall, making him a huge get for the Dawgs.

“I have a great relationship with the coaches up there,” Harris said after the official announcement. “Coach (Mark) Richt, Coach (John) Lilly and I really love what they stand for. They fit me with how I want to be coached and who I want to mentor me. I really like the offense and how they utilize tight ends. I really like their system and how they used Arthur Lynch last year. And the football side, I just really like the way Coach (Mike) Bobo uses the tight ends.”

Not only is this a nice addition to the 2015 class, but it ensure that Georgia will have no shortage of quality tight ends for years to come.

Harris, who was one of UGA’s top 2015 targets, had offers from practically every program under the sun, but chose Georgia over highly ranked programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Ohio State. All total the big tight end had offers from 33 different programs.

The commitment by Harris was the 3rd Georgia recruit to give a verbal to Georgia in two days, and is the 13th of the 2015 recruiting class.
