The much heralded event kicks off Saturday at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, featuring four days of competition, including SPARQ testing, a 7-on-7 tournament and a linemen challenge.

UGA commits Chauncey Rivers, Terry Godwin, Natrez Patrick will be representing the state of Georgia’s high school prospects (along with 13 others from Georgia high schools) while Rico McGraw and Jackson Harris come in from Tennessee’s high school ranks.

The event is a way for these elite recruits to bolster their ratings and perhaps add a star or two, while going head to head with other recruits of the same caliber. In total, there will be 162 prospects participating in The Opening, with many not having yet made a verbal commitment to any school.

Of the Georgia high school prospects that have not yet made a commitment there are; Austin Bryant, DL  from Thomas Co. Central HS, Quarte Sapp, LB from Milton HS, Duke Shelley, DB from Tucker HS, Darius Slayton, DB from GAC, Roquan Smith, LB from Macon County HS, and Adonis Thomas, LB from Central Gwinnett HS.

Note that of the above listed players, only Slayton and Smith have listed UGA as one of their favorites for a possible commitment.
