Georgia men’s basketball is getting a huge boost in the form of a commitment flip, as multiple sources are reporting that local product Will Jackson (Athens Christian) has flipped his commitment from UConn to hometown UGA.

Jackson had given his commitment to the Huskies back in February, but over the past few weeks speculation had been growing that he was beginning to lean towards staying in Athens for his college career.

Should this verbal commitment turn into an actual signing (and all indications are that it will) this is a huge get for Mark Fox and his program, which had been struggling to keep local talent headed to Georgia’s campus.

Jackson, who was a top 50 player when he gave his commitment to UConn, has been given 4 stars by 247sports.com, and is the number 19 point guard in the nation and the number 107 player overall according to their composite rankings.

This is the first commitment for the Bulldogs Class of 2015, and quite a good one at that. This could end up tilting the balance of some players who were on the fence, and who would like to join Jackson in Athens.

This could end up being a monster recruiting year for coach Fox after a better than expected season in 2013-14.
