Georgia basketball will is trying to avoid the problem of a weak schedule, and Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner Herald reports the Georgia Men’s basketball team has added another non-conference foe to its home schedule.

Georgia will play Norfolk State from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on January 3, 2015 at Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs’ nonconference schedule includes home games against Colorado and Seton Hall and road games against Georgia Tech and Kansas State. The Bulldogs also are playing in the preseason NIT.

The SEC schedule has not been announced although the opponents have likely been finalized. Dawn of the Dawg is predicting two games each with Kentucky and Vandy and home bouts only with Tennessee and Florida. The Conference schedule will almost certainly be tougher at home in particular and overall generally. However, look for the road schedule to present an opportunity for improvement on last season’s solid 4 and 5 road record.

All of this is going to add up to a favorable RPI for the Dawgs when tournament selection time comes around, something that ended up being a sticking point last season and was a primary reason Georgia was snubbed from the NCAA Tournament.
