The hopes that Mark Fox might be able to keep in-state prep star Jaylen Brown home and coming to Athens were apparently dashed on Monday night, as reports trickled in about Brown nixing a number of schools from his list of probable commitments.

Georgia, along with rival Georgia Tech and Pac-12 hopeful UCLA, were all eliminated from consideration according to a report from Scout.com’s Evan Daniels

The chances that Georgia was going to land Brown were slim, but fans were still holing out hope that the 5-star forward out of Marietta, Ga (Wheeler HS) would give serious consideration to spending his probable one-and-done season in Athens.

The only consolation for the Dawgs is that Georgia Tech has also been kicked off Brown’s list, so at least Mark Fox won’t have to hear about his exploits from the other side of the state. If Brown decides to head to Kentucky, Georgia would have to face him with the Big Blue Nation more than once.

Brown is rated as the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia, the No. 2 small forward in the nation, and the No. 3 overall player in the nation according to 247 Sports composite rankings.
