The Georgia football team has landed a top 5 quarterback the last two seasons, but 2 top prospects on campus, can they bring in more depth next year?

Quarterback Recruiting:

Georgia is finding every prospect they can, that can play quarterback in our system and giving them a offer. Georgia football only offered three quarterbacks the year we landed Jacob Eason and they offered only six total QB’s during Jake Fromm’s recruitment. Things are very differeng in 2018 with ten quarterbacks currently with offers from UGA.

Georgia has offered 3 “pro-style” quarterbacks so far in this recruiting cycle. They have also offered 7 “dual-threat” quarterbacks. It would appear that Georgia is looking to bring in a more athletic quarterback in this class.

Only three of the ten quarterbacks offered are from the state of Georgia. The other offers are from mostly the southeast region of the country, but one is from Texas, and another as far west as California.

Coincidentally all the Georgia resident quarterback prospects are committed elsewhere. But due to the quality of quarterbacks they are. Georgia will recruit all three of them to the very end of the recruiting cycle.

Georgia Offers:

Trevor Lawerence: The number one “pro-style” quarterback, and the number one prospect in the Nation. Resides in Cartersville, Georgia. Clemson Commit.

Tanner McKee: The number nine “pro-style” quarterback prospect. Resides in California. Uncommitted.

Joe Milton: The number twelve “pro-style” quarterback prospect. Resides in Florida. Uncommitted.

Emory Jones: The number one “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in Franklin, Georgia. Ohio State Commit.

Justin Fields: The number three “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in Kennesaw, Georgia. Penn State Commit.

Dakereon Joyner: The number seven “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in South Carolina. Uncommitted.

Jalen Mayden: The number nine “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in Texas. Uncommitted.

Gerry Bohanon: The number ten “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in Arkansas. Uncommitted.

Justin Rogers: The number twelve “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in Louisiana. Uncommitted.

James Foster: The number sixteen “dual-threat” quarterback prospect. Resides in Alabama. Uncommitted.

My Thoughts on Quarterback Recruitment for Georgia:

I would expect Georgia to sign 2 quarterbacks this recruiting cycle. Georgia only returns Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm as scholarship quarterbacks following this upcoming season. With the loss of Brice Ramsey there will be a major depth issue in the quarterback room.

My personal hope is that Georgia lands one of Emory Jones or Justin Fields. Two prospects committed elsewhere that Georgia will recruit til the very end. And then land either James Foster or Justin Rogers.

I don’t believe Georgia needs a top tier quarterback prospect this cycle. The class of 2020 is a year in which the quarterback class in state are relatively strong. Harrison Bailey a class of 2020 quarterback prospect, should be one of the top 5 QB’s in the country and UGA has already started to heavily push for him.
